Day 151 blog

Today was one of those days where I woke up and every part of me was telling me to rest. No energy, no appetite, no motivation. Just a clear feeling that I needed to slow down.

And honestly, that can be hard to accept, especially as a business owner and CEO to 7 businesses. There’s always something that needs attention. Messages to answer, decisions to make, people depending on you. It can feel like everything will fall behind if you take a step back.

But the truth is, even in leadership, rest is necessary.

I’m also really grateful that I have an amazing team around me. People who can step up when needed, handle things, and keep everything moving. I’ve worked hard to build my businesses in a way that they can run without me having to be involved in every single moment. Because of that, when days like this come up, I know things will still be okay.

Even with that in place, it’s still not easy to fully step back. There’s always that feeling of wanting to check in, to stay involved, to make sure everything is running perfectly.

But I’m learning that trusting the systems I’ve built and the people I’ve chosen is part of being a strong leader too.

We put so much pressure on ourselves to always be on, always producing, always moving forward. But running on empty doesn’t help anyone. Not the business, not the people around us, and definitely not ourselves.

Today was a reminder that listening to your body and your mind is just as important as showing up and getting things done. Rest is not falling behind. It’s part of the process. It’s what allows you to come back stronger, clearer, and more focused.

Sometimes the most productive thing you can do is pause. Even when it feels uncomfortable. Even when your mind is telling you there’s more to do.

Today I chose to slow down, and that’s something I’m learning to be okay with.

Signed, Paulina.

The human body is nothing short of incredible; most people have no idea the depths that it can be pushed.  Even more will never even try to push themselves to their limit.  When the military are training the next generation of warriors, they condition them to push their bodies and minds beyond what they otherwise thought were capable.  This is necessary for many obvious reasons, but even when fully engaged the mind and body still have their limits as we are all still human.  You have managed to achieve the same level of mental toughness that allows you to break barriers and accomplish your goals.  But as you have now discovered, even you need to take a minute and recharge.
