That quote really stopped me in my tracks today: “Nowadays, people don’t defend what is right, they defend who they like and benefit from.” And honestly, it says everything about the world we live in right now.
It’s crazy how often you see people picking sides based on convenience, loyalty, or what they can gain, instead of standing up for what’s actually right. Morals seem optional for some people, and accountability only applies when it benefits them. It makes you pay attention. It makes you observe people differently. It makes you realize who is genuine and who is only loyal when it serves them.
One thing I’ve learned is that choosing what’s right will never steer you wrong, even if you stand alone. Integrity isn’t loud or flashy, but it’s solid. It’s consistent. And it always reveals who you really are. I refuse to compromise my character just to fit in with people who only show up when it’s convenient.
At the end of the day, I would rather have a small circle that stands for truth than a crowd that stands for nothing real. God sees everything, even the intentions behind people’s actions, and He handles it better than I ever could. So I will keep choosing what is right, even when it is hard, even when it costs me people, even when it puts me on the opposite side of the majority.
Doing the right thing will never go out of style. And the people who value truth, loyalty, and integrity will always recognize each other.
And before I end this, tomorrow, December 6th, is my birthday! Plans didn’t go how I expected, so it looks like it might just be me celebrating with me. But honestly, maybe that is exactly how it is meant to be this year. A soft reset. A quiet moment. A day to appreciate myself a little extra.
Signed, Paulina.

Powerful words as always my friend, integrity, ethics and principles are words we don’t hear much of anymore and even less do they seem to mean much or command any respect for what those words are supposed to mean. It’s easy to pick at politicians for instance since they are such easy targets and that too is a shame, that those we are supposed to entrust with representing our values and concerns have about as much integrity as Jell-O. There certainly has been a change in our society with various generations that seem to be very devoid or deficient in these areas and there is no honorable path forward in life if you are lacking in some kind of character…
