I’m starting a new Sunday series where I take time to slow down, open my heart, and dive into God’s word. Every Sunday I will share a reflection, a scripture, or a spiritual takeaway that spoke to me during the week. This series is my way of staying grounded, growing in my faith, and inviting others to grow with me.
It is not about preaching. It is about learning, reflecting, and applying God’s word to real life moments. My hope is that these Sunday posts inspire clarity, comfort, strength, or direction for anyone who reads them. This is my space to study, share, and walk deeper in faith one Sunday at a time.
Sometimes life feels like it suddenly gets heavier. A talent that once came naturally starts to feel distant, opportunities slow down, or motivation fades. When this happens, it is easy to assume something is wrong or that God is somehow holding us back. But in my faith, obstacles are not signs of God withdrawing from us. They are often signs that He is shaping us in ways we may not recognize yet.
The starting point is understanding that God never takes away a gift He has given. Scripture makes this clear: “The gifts and the call of God are irrevocable.” (Romans 11:29) Our talents, purpose, and spiritual calling remain ours even when life gets complicated. What can change, however, is the environment around the gift. God may allow challenges to arise not to punish us, but to transform us into the kind of person who can carry that gift with maturity, humility, and purpose.
One of the strongest examples of this comes from St. Paul. He was an incredibly gifted man with a powerful spiritual mission, yet he speaks about facing a “thorn in the flesh,” a painful and persistent obstacle in his life. He begged God to remove it, but instead God responded: “My grace is sufficient for you, for power is made perfect in weakness.” (2 Corinthians 12:9) God did not take away Paul’s abilities or calling. He allowed a struggle that pushed Paul into deeper dependence, greater humility, and stronger spiritual resilience. What looked like a roadblock was actually a tool God used to refine Paul’s heart and strengthen his mission.
In my faith, obstacles become a kind of classroom for the soul. Through challenges, God purifies our motives, teaching us to use our gifts not for approval or comparison, but out of love and authenticity. Difficult moments build spiritual muscle: patience, endurance, trust, and discipline. These qualities rarely grow during easy seasons. These slow or frustrating moments often push us into prayer, helping us rely more on God than on our own strength. And sometimes, what feels like a delay is really preparation. God is developing the character needed for the next level of our calling.
When a talent feels blocked or a path seems stuck, it does not mean the gift is gone. You are not losing your purpose. You are being refined. Scripture uses the imagery of metal being purified by fire: “I will refine them as silver is refined.” (Zechariah 13:9) Silver does not weaken during refinement. It becomes stronger and more radiant. In the same way, obstacles do not lessen your worth. They sharpen your spirit.
Whatever struggle you face, remember that God is not taking anything from you. He is preparing you. He is strengthening you. And He is guiding you into a deeper and more powerful version of the gift He placed within you.
Blessings, Paulina.

Challenges by nature, sharpens our focus and hones our mind and body until the task is completed. Sometimes that challenge is telling you “not to go that way” and you need to figure out how to overcome and adapt to the situation at hand. God isn’t going to just give you knock on the head and literally say “not that way dummy”, he speaks quietly but if you are listening you can hear him. Learning is a process of trial and error and God does his best (again, provided we are listening) to show us the path to get us to where we need to be.
There is a truly beautiful movie that everyone should watch and it…
