Blog 365 - One Year

A year ago, I decided I was going to start writing a daily blog. The original idea was pretty simple. I wanted it to be like a daily diary, a place to document what I did, where I went, the people I spent time with, the experiences I had, and the little moments that made up each day.

I didn’t really know what it would turn into. I just knew I wanted to start something and commit to doing it every single day for a year.

But somewhere along the way, it became more than a daily diary.

It slowly turned into a combination of documenting my life and writing about whatever was sitting on my heart that day. Some days I shared something fun, an event, a trip, a workday, or a memory. Other days, I found myself writing about faith, life lessons, personal growth, relationships, struggles, encouragement, and things I felt someone else might need to hear.

Sometimes I started writing because I had something specific to share. Other times, I didn’t really know what I wanted to say until I started putting the words together. And I think that’s one of the things I enjoyed most about this experience. It gave me a reason to slow down, reflect, and actually put my thoughts into words.

Looking back over the last year, it’s interesting to think about how much can happen in 365 days. There were exciting moments, new experiences, celebrations, challenges, unexpected days, lessons learned, and plenty of memories. There were days when I had so much to write about and other days when I had to really think about what I wanted to share.

But I showed up.

Even on the days when I was busy, tired, traveling, or didn’t feel particularly inspired, I made time to write. And I’m proud of that. Not because every blog was perfect or every day had some incredible story behind it, but because I made a commitment to myself and followed through.

Consistency is something we talk about often, but actually sticking with something for an entire year is a different feeling. It’s easy to start something when you’re excited about it. It’s another thing to keep going when the excitement wears off and it becomes part of your everyday routine.

I’m glad I did it. I’m glad I stayed consistent. I’m glad I have a collection of memories, thoughts, lessons, and little pieces of my life from an entire year that I can look back on.

And perhaps the biggest takeaway is that sometimes you don’t realize how much you have to say until you give yourself the space to say it. What started as a simple daily diary turned into a place where I could share my perspective, encourage someone, reflect on my faith, and put things into the world that might resonate with someone else.

I don’t know who needed to read certain blogs throughout this year, and I’ll probably never know. But if even one person read something on a difficult day and felt encouraged, understood, or reminded that they weren’t alone, then that made it even more worthwhile.

Today closes out this little yearlong project, and I think it’s a pretty good feeling to say I finished what I started.

There is something special about looking back at a goal you set for yourself and knowing you actually followed through. No excuses, no waiting for the perfect moment, just showing up one day at a time.

So, here’s to the last 365 days of writing, reflecting, remembering, and sharing a little piece of my world.

I’m proud of myself for starting, but even more proud of myself for finishing.

And to everyone who took the time to read my blogs, leave a comment, send me a message, share a thought, or cheer me on throughout this year, thank you. You may not realize how much those little moments of encouragement meant to me. Knowing that people were reading, following along, and sometimes connecting with something I wrote made me want to keep showing up. Thank you for being part of this little journey and for giving me a reason to share a piece of my world every day. I appreciate every single one of you!

One year. One blog a day. A whole lot of thoughts, memories, lessons, and words. And just like that, this chapter is complete. 🤍

(Not sure how the numbering got off count, but I did do one a day!)

Signed, Paulina.
