Day 357

Never take for granted the simple fact that you woke up today.

“The Spirit of God has made me; the breath of the Almighty gives me life.” Job 33:4

Sometimes, we get so caught up in everything we’re trying to accomplish that we forget about the most important gift we have been given. Life itself.

We wake up thinking about our responsibilities, our schedules, our goals, our problems, and everything we need to get done. We rush through the day, constantly thinking about what’s next, and sometimes we forget to stop and appreciate the simple fact that we have another day to live.

Another morning to wake up.

Another opportunity to get things right.

Another chance to love the people around us, make a difference, learn something new, and become a little more of the person God created us to be.

And none of that is guaranteed.

I think there is something incredibly powerful about remembering that every breath we take is a gift. We didn’t create ourselves. We don’t control every circumstance in our lives. And despite how much we plan, work, prepare, and try to figure everything out, there are so many things that remain outside of our control.

But God is still the One who gives us life.

And that truth puts things into perspective.

We spend so much time asking God for the next blessing, the next opportunity, the next breakthrough, or the next answered prayer. We ask Him to open doors, guide our decisions, protect the people we love, and help us get through the difficult seasons.

And there is nothing wrong with bringing those prayers to Him.

But sometimes, I wonder how often we stop to thank Him for what He has already given us.

For the breath in our lungs.

For the ability to wake up and try again.

For the people who love us.

For the lessons that have shaped us.

For the strength to keep going when life hasn’t gone according to plan.

Even for the difficult seasons that have taught us to lean on Him in ways we might never have understood otherwise.

Not every day will be easy. Some days will bring unexpected challenges, disappointment, exhaustion, and questions we don’t have answers to. There will be moments when we feel overwhelmed by life and wonder how we’re going to get through what is in front of us.

But even on those days, there is still something worth thanking God for.

Sometimes gratitude doesn’t mean being happy about everything happening in your life. It means recognizing that even when things are difficult, you have been given another day to keep going.

Another day to pray.

Another day to heal.

Another day to forgive.

Another day to make a different choice.

Another day to show someone kindness when they need it most.

And another day to trust that God is still working, even when you cannot see the whole picture.

We don’t always understand why certain things happen or why some seasons are harder than others. We may not understand the timing, the waiting, or the doors that close in front of us.

But we can choose to live today with gratitude instead of spending it worrying about tomorrow.

We can stop measuring the value of our lives by how much we accomplished and start recognizing the blessing of simply being here to experience them.

Because at the end of the day, our worth isn’t measured by our productivity, our income, our achievements, or how much we managed to get done.

We are more than what we produce.

We are more than the goals we reach.

We are people created by God, given life for a purpose, and offered the opportunity to use that life to love, serve, encourage, and make a difference in the world around us.

And I don’t want to get so busy building a life that I forget to thank God for the life I already have.

I don’t want to spend so much time chasing the next thing that I overlook the blessings sitting right in front of me.

I don’t want to wait until something reminds me how precious life is before I start appreciating the ordinary moments.

The sunrise. The conversations. The laughter. The quiet moments. The people who show up. The prayers answered in ways we didn’t expect.

Those things are blessings, too.

So today, take a moment to breathe. Really breathe. Put down your phone, step away from the noise, and thank God for bringing you through everything it took to get you to this moment.

You don’t need to have everything figured out to be grateful.

You don’t need a perfect life to recognize that life itself is a gift.

And you don’t have to wait for something extraordinary to happen before you give thanks.

Sometimes the greatest miracle is the one we experience every single day without even thinking about it.

The breath in your lungs is a reminder that God has given you another day. Don’t spend it so focused on what you want that you forget to thank Him for what you have.

Live today with intention. Love people while you have the opportunity. Be kind when you can. Forgive when you’re ready. Keep your faith close, and remember that every new morning is an opportunity to live a little differently than you did yesterday.

We don’t know how many tomorrows we will be given, but we can choose what we do with today.

And today, I want to be grateful for the simple, beautiful, undeserved gift of being here.

Thank You, God, for the breath in my lungs, the life You’ve given me, and the opportunity to live another day according to Your purpose.

Signed, Paulina.
