Day 358
Today was one of those days where everything felt overwhelming. You know the kind of day when your mind is already full, your patience is running low, and even the smallest things feel like one more thing added to an already long list.
And sometimes, the hardest part about feeling overwhelmed is that it seems like everyone needs something from you. Everyone has a question, a request, or wants to know what’s wrong. They want you to explain what you’re feeling when, honestly, you don’t even know how to explain it yourself.
Sometimes you don’t want to talk about it. You don’t want to break down every feeling, explain every thought, or find the right words to make someone else understand. You just want a little space to breathe. You want someone to understand that you’re having a hard day without making you explain why.
And sometimes, you don’t even want to be left completely alone. You just want someone to make you smile, bring a little happiness into your day, give you a hug, or remind you that everything doesn’t have to be figured out right this second. You want comfort without questions and kindness without expectations.
I think we sometimes forget that not every difficult day needs a solution. Not every emotion needs to be explained, and not every quiet moment means something is wrong that needs to be fixed. Sometimes a person just needs time to process, reset, and find their footing again.
So here’s your reminder, and mine, that it’s okay to have a bad day. It’s okay to feel overwhelmed. It’s okay to need space without feeling guilty about it. You can love the people around you and still need a moment where nobody needs anything from you.
And if someone you care about seems a little quieter than usual, maybe instead of asking a hundred questions, simply remind them you’re there. Send a kind message, make them laugh, offer a little encouragement, or just sit beside them. Sometimes the most loving thing you can do is make someone feel safe enough not to have to explain themselves.
Even in these moments, I believe God reminds us to give ourselves grace. We aren’t meant to have everything together every day. We can take our worries to Him, sit in quiet prayer, and allow ourselves to rest without feeling like we have to earn it.
Tomorrow is a new day. Whatever feels heavy today doesn’t have to be solved tonight.
Sometimes we don’t need advice, questions, or someone trying to fix everything. Sometimes we just need a little peace, a little kindness, and someone who can remind us that it’s going to be okay.
Signed, Paulina.
